Her photographs evoke paranormal-esque mystery and nostalgia. Always beautiful, no matter what the concept is

Space Mermaid
I first discovered Space Mermaid a few years ago through Francesca Lia Block's website. I remember falling in love with the pieces - all reminiscent of something straight out of a dream, treasures you'd probably find inside of an oyster shell or treasure chests, or perhaps nestled in the moon far off in space.
Stephanie Carbone is the magical mastermind behind Space Mermaid, all of the pieces are from her mind, and created by her. Here are some images of her beautiful creations - all of them are from the Space Mermaid website, please check it out and be inspired!

summer inspirations
gypsy, summer heat, hazy days, bohemian wanderlust in the forest, the sea, and anywhere else

she probably thought she could fly
I want to feel all the things i'm not capable of feeling.
“p. 55 “It seems there is a tiny door that I must walk through. It is called ‘normal.’ But I am not. As a result I cannot fit through this door. And yet they keep telling me I must go through it. They being my mom, the doctor, and the medical profession in general—at least according to the literature that Dr. Thornton gave me to read. Now at times some of this actually makes sense, and then at other times it all sounds absolutely ridiculous. I wonder where they get this stuff. I wonder who invented ‘normal’ in the first place. And I question whether or not it really exists. Or if it exists, perhaps it’s not for me. Because I am certain this is a door I will never be able to squeeze through.”

“I like the boats. They go places. Like over the sea and everything.
I like boys with good intentions and girls with their faces in a book
I like dream catchers, everywhere.
I like how flowers bloom and you always miss it so its like, magic
I like creating..and feeling
I like talking to myself, and animals
I like walking aimlessly. driving aimlessly. eating aimlessly. anything - aimlessly
I like being up at night and sleeping during the day
I like twins
I like pitch, black, silence.
I like colorful surroundings
I like how cool water feels when you drink it
I like people who have scars
I love everything even when it doesn't love me
Today I raised my hand in class.
In some ways, I love everything.
Its less, its less of a thing to like, its less distinct, its less particular
I like things that I like but I love everything
There’s more choice in like
Cos even the worst things have things you love in them
I don’t know what you mean about things I hate
I hate feeling lonely
I hate birthdays
I hate monotone responses
I hate that I'm not a twin
I hate people who make excuses
I hate fake laughter
I hate loud noises
I hate when...things are in..bad organization...
I hate this. Wow. Sorry. Got to stop.

tell me about the forest....
the forest has been in my dreams, in my thoughts
constantly lately - when i should be focusing on more mundane things
now that its almost summer, i want to be there more often
watching the rabbits weaving through the trails
aimless walks, in endless hours
i'm in love with trees - their outlines and form
to me they look supernaturally human
if i could hide anywhere, it would be in the forest
constantly lately - when i should be focusing on more mundane things
now that its almost summer, i want to be there more often
watching the rabbits weaving through the trails
aimless walks, in endless hours
i'm in love with trees - their outlines and form
to me they look supernaturally human
if i could hide anywhere, it would be in the forest

"But she's not afraid to die
the people all call her Alaska
Between worlds so the people ask her
